About the Founder & the person/team likely to lead the project:

Sonarpur Progatir Pathe has been founded by nine young alumni led by Rabindra Nath Mondal of Ramkrishna Mission Samaj Sevak Shikhan Mandri, Belur. Founder members are from different islands of Sunderban. After completion of rural development course they realized, many of the burning problems of their islands can be addressed by tying up & sensitizing the service providers of Gov. /Non-Govt. entities and resource mobilization. Philosophy and ideology of Ramakrishna, Maa & Swamiji have inspired them to work for the needy. The team of young professionals thus established Sonarpur Progatir Pathe in 2014 and started to work on prioritized issues.  

About the Organization:

Sonarpur Progatir Pathe (SPP) a Non Government Organization established by a group of alumni of the Ramakrishna Mission, Samaj Sevak Shikshana Mandir of Belur Math, Howrah has been working in remote and underserved rural areas of West Bengal on Health, Sanitation, Education, Nutrition, Agriculture, skill development, livelihood & Rural Development since 2014. Presently, it has been working in 15 districts of West Bengal. Awareness generation, sensitization, development of ownership among target population upon the issue and active participation of community in project planning is the major strategic approach of the organization to address the issue and achieve the goal within timeframe. Emphasis is given towards resource mobilization for effective implementation and sustainability of project objectives. Associated stakeholders and resource entities are taken into consideration for project success.  The organization advocates in favour of collaboration with local governance and Govt. departments in strengthening vulnerable people so that they can develop resilience to overcome adversities in the future.

The objectives of the organisation is to focus on disseminating the child and mother care, awareness programmes on rural health, education and socio-economic environment among the rural people in remote District-Purulia, Alipurduar, Derjeeling and Remote block of Sunderbans i.e. Hingalganj, Hasnabad, Sandeshkhali-I&II of North 24 Parganas District and Namkhana, Sagar, Pathar Pratima, Basanti of South 24 Parganas Districts.

Sonarpur Progatir Pathe is registered with the Registrar of Societies and the type of NGO is Registered Societies (Non-Government) bearing the West Bengal Societies Registration Act.

1961 and the Registration Number is S/2L/41401. The city and state of registration are Kolkata and West Bengal. The date of registration is 20-08-2015. Our Unique Id of VO/NGO is WB/2017/0155804.

MISSION

Establishment of formal schools especially for the underprivileged children of underserved area, strengthening of community, organization of health services including water & sanitation, Natural resource management, child and mother care, conduct skill development programs for youth & employment generation and sustainable environment.

VISION
The vision of the organization is prosperity, equality and healthy society and all round sustainable development of poor rural community through skill development, capacity building, alternate livelihood, education and health support. With this objective in view SPP acts as supplementing and complementing agency of Panchayati Raj in general and government agencies at the local level in particular.  
OBJECTIVES:
  1. To strengthen the community delivery system of remote areas.
  2. To provide home education and health facilities to destitute needy, un-privileged and or phone children without discrimination of role, caste creeds and arrange short stay Home. 
  3. Services of Social Welfare to the members of the Society and general public at large.
  4. To provide and make the rural people aware on the importance of Reproductive, curative & diagnostic service. 
  5. To encourage /promote all school going enrolled children and target community children to continue their education up to minimum XII standard.
  6. To improve the nutritional and health status of rural community.
  7. To promote peoples’ participation in the process of planning & implementation of various development programmes.
  8. To organize the various skill development training for self reliance and self help of disadvantage section.
  9. To Establish and maintain Computer Education Centre.
  10. Care and rehabilitation of men and women in difficult Circumstances.
  11. To help the Handicapped for their rehabilitative services.
  12. Social welfare and Rural Development, Sanitation, health, Road repairs Including schemes for child, women persons with disabilities, from SCs/STS/OBCS and other poor and backward communities with government of India or Foreign Agencies.
  13. Against women and child trafficking and child marriage.
  14. Promote and encourage literacy, Cultural, Scientific and Technical education. 
  15. To arrange and organise various cultural events production and festivals etc.
